Hyundai Elite i20 Automatic Launched at 9.02 Lakhs
Viewing the inceasing demand for automatic cars in India, Hyundai India has launched an automatic version of its most popular premium hatchback – the Elite i20. Priced at Rs 9.02 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the new i20 1.4 petrol automatic is now available for sale across dealerships. The Elite i20 was the only car in its league that misses out on automatic gearbox, as all of its rivals – Baleno, Jazz and Polo – come equipped with this technology.
The manufacturing of the Hyundai Elite i20 Automatic variant has already started at the company’s Chennai based plant, and the also Indian made Hyundai i20 AT model was recently put up on display at the 2016 Indonesian Motor Show. Instead of the trivial 1.2L petrol engine, this variant is packed with a bigger 1.4L Gamma VTVT petrol engine that’s good enough for 99bhp and 130Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The i20 Automatic is available only in a single variant – the Magna. This variant has dual front airbags as standard safety feature. However, it’s lacks of several high-end features available in Asta variant such as ABS and EBD, alloy wheels, keyless entry, rear parking camera, the touchscreen entertainment system, automatic air conditioning and projector headlamps.

The Hyundai i20 AT also misses out on tax benefits offered on small car equipped with petrol engines below 1.2L capacity. The excise duty will be increased from 12.5% to 24%, resulting into price rise. Instead of alloys, this variant gets 14-inch steel wheels.
