Is that Delhi Police Aston Martin? We Explain

Recently, a picture of an Aston Martin wrapped in Delhi police sticker circulated on internet. While Cops having such kind of cars is common in well developed nations, in India we still see them with vintage Maruti Gypsys or Toyota Innovas. On seeing this picture one would surely think whether the Indian cops are also going to get such cars or not? Well we are here to answer your this question but before that let us know a little more about Aston Martin.

Aston Martin History

The Aston Martin Rapide is a 4 door, high performance sports saloon, named after British luxury marque Aston Martin which introduced it in year 2010. The Rapide name is a reference to the Lagonda Rapide, a 4 door saloon produced by Lagonda, now a part of Aston Martin. It is based on Aston Martin DB9 and shares the same VH platform.
The car is powered by V12 engine and produces 470 bhp and torque of 601 nm. It is a rear wheel drive and has 6 speed touchtronic automatic. Its top speed is 303 km/h. Only a limited numbers of Rapide can be seen in India and it is one amongst them.

Is Delhi Police getting this car?

The Aston Martin that uses Delhi Police name and monogram is not for Delhi Police but is actually to be used in the upcoming movie “DRIVE” starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandes. The car goes red and blue streaks completely with the ‘ Dial 100’ message and is quite similar to the paint job on conventional Delhi Police Patrolling vehicles.

The movie Drive is produced by Karan Johar and will be released later this year in November. With the use of such kind of cars we can expext a great action movie. Thus, unfortuntely, this car has nothing to do with Indian cops.
Although the Dubai Police uses Aston Martin One77 but Indian Police has a long way to go with these cars.
