Dry day is a day when the sale of Alcohol is not permitted in India. Mainly there are three National Holidays in India namely Republic Day, Independence day and Gandhi Jayanti when alcohol is not permitted to be sold. These are fixed dry days.
Apart from national holidays, there are other days also when dry days occurs. On those days shops can't sell the alcohols. However bars, hotels and restaurants can serve the alcohol under their premises. (Subjected to the matter of State Excise Department).
For alcohol lovers these days will be hard days. As selling of alcohol is not permitted.
In January there will be 3 days Makar Sakranti, Republic Day and Martyr Day.
In February there will be 2 days Guru Ravidas Jayanti and Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.
In March there will be 3 days Swami Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti, Holi and Shiv Ratri
In April there will be 4 days i.e. Ambedkar Jayanti, Ram Navmi, Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday.
In May there will be 3 days Maharashtra Day (For Maharastra City Only) and Eid Ul Fitr
In July there will be 2 days Ashadi Ekadashi and Guru Purnima
In August there will be 3 days Muharram, Independence day and Janamastmi
In September 2 days Ganesh Chaturthi and Ganesh Visarjan.
In October 5 days Mahatma Gandhi Birthday, Prohibition Week (Mumbai), Dusshera, Eid-e-Milad and Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.
In November 4 days Diwalo, Kartik Ekadashi, Guru Nanak Jayanti and Martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur.
In December Christmas/Guru Parb.
